EDITORIAL

Merhaba . . . .
A special for everyone (at least those who are interested and have e-mail) - a summer pecial of the KK. This for e-mail purposes is going to be limited to one page and hopefully Park Kemer Marina will forward this to all those from winter 2001/2002 and also to those who have confirmed an interest for 2002/2003.
Most people seem to have managed to get away now though some were rather late starters. Some have gone great distances already (Magic Carpet and Gladlee of Guernsey) and some have just simply hovered (New Millennium Spirit - excuse the pun John). Whatever your plans we are looking forward to seeing all the new inmates for next winter and yes we are missing all those from last winter (including the French).

Communications
Quite a few of us have managed to keep in touch on the "Kemer Net" (8188Khz) at 09.00 every morning. If anyone wants to join in this very informal net just listen in and check in. If you don't have a transmitter just listen. If there are any kids out there the net converts to a "Kids Net" currently at 09.15 but may be later if there are lots of new boats checking in at 09.00.

Medical Check
As most of us know a few of the winter residents have had a bit of a problem with their health. Frank (Vision) seems to be doing well and is currently back in Turkey for a short while before returning to the U.S. for surgery. Frank and Tari are very confident that things will go well. Britta (Laudance) has apparently not had great news. After some initial surgery she now, unfortunately has to return to Canada for further surgery. Britta (Early Bird) is now in Sweden having her new hips and knees fitted (not sure of the combination). And we have just heard that Susie (Venetian) has fallen and broken her leg. Apparently she is plastered all the way up (makes a difference from Derek being plastered). So I am sure I can speak for everyone when I say that we wish one and all a speedy recovery and the best of health for the future.

Birthday Bashes
April arrived with most of us pretty eager to get back to the open seas and what better excuse could we have had than to celebrate Clare's 30th birthday in Kekova Roads. A wonderful turn out of 11 boats made it for the bash and also Umut and wife by road with what was supposed to be the cake but turned out to be Baklava. From there a good number of us managed to get to Marmaris Yacht Marine for Karyns 50th and combined with quite a few of the Marmaris residents for another good night of entertainment. Was that really the final final final performance by the Kemer Band?? We can but hope.

Winter 2002/2003
It's already sneaking up on us and if you haven't already booked your place then I'm sure Hasan and Umut will be pleased to hear from you. Lots to do as always; Aerobics, Tennis, Languages, Keep Fit facilities (Turkiz Hotel), Bridge, Cinema, Classical Concerts and of course lots and lots of parties. Come along and enjoy the fun at Kemer!!!!!!
